VANCOUVER, B.C. — The B.C. Liberals were red-faced yesterday after announcing that Insurance Corp. of B.C. (ICBC) president, Thom Thompson, was mistakenly fired.

The government announced sweeping changes to ICBC’s staff yesterday, replacing all nine board members with a new management team. However, Thompson’s name was accidentally included on the list, which was signed off by Premier Gordon Campbell.

“He has not been fired,” ICBC spokesman Doug McClelland told local media. “He is still the president. He was here today.”

Meanwhile, a new cabinet order signed by Campbell, is needed to remedy the embarrassing situation.
