IdleAire to be installed at 150 TA facilities

WESTLAKE, Ohio (Aug. 27, 2004) — IdleAire will install its Advanced Travel Center Electrification (ATE) ShorePower system at all TravelCenters of America locations under a long-term agreement announced by the two companies.

The largest network of full-service travelcentres in the U.S., with 126 company locations, TA also will engage its 24 additional franchise locations for IdleAire installation.

“After three years of researching technologies that allow fleets to eliminate extended idling and save fuel and money, our study shows IdleAire provides the single best solution,” said TA’s Peter Greene, senior vice president of development and franchising.

IdleAire is currently installed in 18 locations. The company has another 21 sites in some phase of construction. Under the agreement with TA, IdleAire will expand the three current IdleAire installations at TA sites in Dallas, San Antonio and Baytown, Texas, which were used by TA for evaluation purposes. The TA in Paulsboro, N.J., will open this week. The next TA locations scheduled for installation are Wheeler Ridge, Coachella and Ontario in California, and Knoxville, Tenn.

Last month, TA opened its first truck maintenance shop north of the border. The Canadian facility will be located in Woodstock, Ont. at the 230 Travel Centre on Hwy. 401. The 11,757 square-foot facility will offer four truck service bays, Express Lane Services and 24-hour emergency road service. Freightliner ServicePoint, an authorized express service for Freightliner trucks, will be offered by the end of this year.
