SASKATOON, Sask. — International Road Dynamics (IRD) have added a high profile former NDP cabinet minister to their board of directors.

Janice MacKinnon, Saskatchewan’s former finance minister, is stepping down from politics but is eager to take an active role with the transportation company, which specializes in weigh-in-motion truck management systems.

“I was really interested in that board. It’s an exciting company because it started from the university – Art Bergan was a professor of engineering – and it’s a Saskatoon high-tech company that’s exporting,” says MacKinnon. “It’s the kind of company I’ve always believed in.”

Also joining the board is Toronto-based corporate lawyer Russell Paddon.

IRD’s road technology is mostly used in the U.S., but there is talk of adding their Automatic Truck Rollover Warning System at several corners in B.C. where high truck rollover rates occur.
