SASKATOON, Sask. — International Road Dynamics (IRD) has a green light to install its Automatic Truck Rollover Warning System in three Georgia locations.

The $738,000 contract will see the systems installed at three locations on Interstates 75 and 20, just before problem curves that have seen a large number of truck rollovers.

The warning systems calculate a trucks weight, speed, deceleration and height and then post a sign indicating the maximum safe speed for that particular truck to take through the corner.

Georgia becomes the latest state to jump on-board with the technology, joining Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. So far, no units have been installed in Canada, but a recent Insurance Corp. of B.C. study recommended their use in several locations in B.C.
