CALGARY, Alta. — Canadian Freightways president and chief executive officer, Darshan Kailly, has been elected as vice-chair of the Van Horne Institute’s board of directors.

Kailly has actively pursued a provincial apprenticeship program for trucking, through his involvement with the Transportation Training and Development Association, which he says has given him some experience in the area of transportation education.

The Van Horne Institute is a Calgary-based transportation school, established to address transportation sector and related regulatory issues confronting the industry. It joined up with the University of Calgary in January of 1992.
