Kalyn/Siebert Canada likely to be picked up by Manac
Heil Trailer, one of the U.S’s leading tank trailer manufacturers has purchased Texas-based, truck trailer manufacturer Kalyn/Siebert Inc. for undisclosed terms.
However, Florida-based Rail America, Kalyn/Siebert’s parent company did not include Kalyn/Siebert Canada, based in Trois Rivieres, Que., as part of the deal.
A Kalyn/Siebert Canada source, who asked not to be identified, said Heil was not interested in operations in Canada, which concentrates more on dump and walking floor operations, compared to mechanic oil detachable and hydraulic detachable product lines in Texas.
He did say, however, that Rail America still has Kalyn/Siebert Canada up for sale, and has in fact accepted a letter of intent from Manac Inc., Canada’s largest dry box and flatbed trailer manufacturer.
“There is something on the way,” says Charles Dutil, Manac’s vice president of marketing. “There has been an agreement in principal. We’re working to do this properly through due diligence. But it’s not a deal yet.”
