Kriska helps deliver clean-up kits to Fort Mac evacuees

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Kriska Transportation Group is the latest trucking company to help the families and businesses in Fort McMurray rebuild their lives after the tragic wildfires.

Kriska said its staff has help donate cash to the relief efforts and it has also donated its services to the Red Cross via Truck for Change to haul a load of clean-up kits from Mississauga to Fort Mac.

The driver, Jan Lovekin, sent the following satellite message to dispatch right after she completed the delivery on June 8: “Having just completed the Red Cross run to Fort Mac, I wanted to extend a huge thank you to all that made this happen. Being the Deliverer of the products, I am the one who receives first hand the smiles and heartfelt thank yous for Kriska’s part in assisting this community. It is my participation in runs like this that make me proud to be a Canadian and a Kriska employee. It (truly) takes a team to make this happen: from management, customer service, (maintenance), dispatch and more. We rock.

“You can feel the pride and emotion from her satellite message. Obviously we are one of dozens of carries doing our part,” said Jonathan Wahba in an e-mail message to Truck News. “(It’s) important that we as in industry shine a bright light on all the good work being done, and counter the often negative press (wheel offs) our industry generates.”
