LEHIGH VALLEY, PA. — Deliveries of Mack Trucks through May 2001 totaled 11,311 vehicles world-wide, down 33 per cent from the 16,823 units delivered during the same period last year.

In North America, the results are even worse with total deliveries pegged at 10,561 versus 16,410; a drop of 36 per cent.

“Although our sales volume has been affected by the market decline, we’ve continued to improve our U.S. market share,” says out-going Mack president and chief executive officer Michel Gigou. “Thanks in part to the relative stability of our core markets, we’ve boosted our U.S. retail market share to 14.7 percent through May — a full three percentage points higher than the same period in 2000.”
