Man arrested after aluminum truck heist
CHICOUTIMI, Que. — After stealing a truck loaded with aluminum ingots for near here, a 42-year-old man was arrested a few hours later, after winding a route across various regions of Quebec.
The truck and its cargo, valued at approximately $350,000, was apparently stolen at about midnight at the start of this week. Thanks to a satellite detection system, the heavy vehicle was later tracked to Shawinigan.
At the end of the night, near Berthier in the Lanaudiere region, the truck was stopped by a coordinated police operation on Autoroute 40. The man driving the truck was the only person arrested and is set to appear in a Trois-Rivieres courtroom.
