BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Manac has temporarily suspended operations at its Orangeville, Ont. van trailer plant as of Oct. 12, and is not expected will not resume until May of 2002.

This decision will impact 175 employees for a period of 31 weeks. The shutdown is referred to by Manac as, necessary due to the conditions of the North American semi-trailer and trucking industries, as well as the slowdown of the economy in general.

The Saint-Georges, Que. plant will handle all van production during this period of time. No significant changes to employment levels are expected at the Quebec facility.
