MTA hands out industry awards

WINNIPEG, (Sept. 16, 2004) — The Manitoba Trucking Association has announced that Bryan Hardy of GE Trailer Fleet Services has received the 2004 Maxim “Associate of the Year” award at the MTA’s recent Management Conference in Gimli, Man.

The award recognizes contributions and dedication to the industry and the MTA.

For over a decade, Hardy has been an active member of the MTA as an Associated Trades Division member. During this time he has served on the Associated Trades Division Executive Committee for seven years.

He has also been actively involved in the Professional Truck Driver Championships. Most recently, he was co-chair of this year’s fundraising dinner.

The MTA also honoured Dennis Clarke of Gardewine North with the 2004 Manitoba Trailmobile Service to Industry award.

Mr. Clarke, who has long been a strong and loyal supporter of the MTA, was recognized by his peers for his many contributions to the trucking industry.

He has represented his industry as a member of the MTA Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the City of Winnipeg / Province of Manitoba Liaison Committee, the Ad hoc Revenue Generation Committee, the Convention Committee, the Fund Raising Committee, and the Canadian Trucking Alliance, Standards Council.

His commitment is not just restricted to his industry, the MTA says. Over the years Clarke has been actively involved in his local community as a member of the Rotary Club and a town councillor. He has also coached hockey and ringette teams for numerous years and served as President of his local community club.
