YELLOWKNIFE, N.W.T. — Officials from the Northwest Territories are touting the region as lucrative option for industrial business development.

Andrew Loosley, manager of business development services for Resource, Wildlife and Economic Development, says “The climate in the Northwest Territories for a new wave of resource development is right.”

He adds that the N.W.T. has asleep for the past 25 years, but is now waking up after a major gas discovery made in the region last year.

Loosley says that the Territories are now a land of opportunity, and that a lot of oil and gas companies will be heading north to capitalize. That could mean truckers may soon be looking north for lucrative opportunities behind the wheel.

“There’s companies now that have spent a year finalizing community relationships,” says Loosley. “You have to develop that local contact.”
