REGINA, Sask. — There’s a new minister at the helm of Saskatchewan’s Department of Highways and Transportation.

Mark Wartman takes over the post from former minister, Pat Atkinson, a move made as part of a cabinet shakeup by Premier Lorne Calvert.

In addition to heading the department, Wartman is also responsible for the Highway Traffic Board and is involved with the Saskatchewan Grain Car Corporation.

Prior to his latest appointment, Wartman was the legislative secretary to the Minister of Economic Development, where he helped coordinate a ‘greenprint’ for ethanol production.
