REGINA, Sask. — The Saskatchewan Department of Highways and Transportation has approved a new permit allowing B-trains to freely roam the province’s secondary and municipal highway system.

Trucks covered under the permit would be using B-trains to transport on a multiple trip basis from one location directly to another during the winter.

The New Winter Weight Permit Program will allow fleets to apply for the permit. The route they plan to travel will then be assessed by the department to determine whether it will be allowed. Routes that include bridges will not be considered.

Also, if travel is required on municipal grid roads, permits are subject to municipal approval. For more details about the new permit plan, contact Martin Kubik at 306-787-4801.
