New winter road gets green light
WOOD BUFFALO PARK, Alta. — Parks Canada has given the nod to a 118-kilometre winter road through Wood Buffalo, the largest national park in the country.
Environmental groups feel slighted by the decision after they fought in vigorous opposition to the transportation link.
They opposed the road on the basis it threatened the wildlife and wilderness character of the park on the Alberta-Northwest Territories border.
