One week left until the next Healthy Feet Challenge

by Truck News

TORONTO, Ont. – There’s only one week left until the next Healthy Fleet Challenge begins.

The three-month walking challenge starts on September 1st and runs straight through until November 30th with no break months in between.

The challenge was created by Healthy Trucker in partnership with Truck News and the ATA. It helps drives a lifestyle change for participants and challenges the industry to get more active by measuring competitors’ daily steps using wearable technology connected to an online leaderboard. The team with the most steps at the end of the challenge wins bragging rights and an improved lifestyle.

The leaderboard is live on www.HealthyFleet.com and ranks each company by the number of steps that team members take.

This time around, individuals can now also get active without waiting around for their company to step up and form a team by joining the challenge under the ATA or Truck News team, if they don’t have a team themselves.

Glenn Caldwell, of Healthy Trucker, says that even though the challenge begins soon, the company still encourages teams to form and join right up until the end of the challenge. He claims the feedback from the fleets and allied trades that have participated in previous challenges has been all positive.

“The Healthy Fleet Challenge provided an opportunity for internal competition within peers groups at SLH Transport  but also worked to unite the team to compete against other carriers in Canada and the United States,” said Ken Cross, senior manager, human resources business partner, Sears Canada Inc. and SLH Transport. “It was well received, created discussion within the company and we look forward to continuing the challenge in the fall.”

Jeff L. King, president, Quik X Group of Companies added: “The Healthy Fleet Challenge was a great way to generate a little friendly competition across our organization,” said J.  “And at the same time, to build awareness that we all can do a little better at being more physically active every day!”
