QUEEN’S PARK, Ont. — Today will see Ontario’s Treasurer, Jim Flaherty unveil his first budget since replacing Ernie Eaves in the last Cabinet shuffle.

The budget is the first for the province’s fleets with a minister who is able to meet to discuss the trucking industry’s concerns. Eaves always had to remove himself from trucking discussions because of a possible conflict of interest.

Both Flaherty and provincial Premier Mike Harris has been tight-lipped about the Wednesday Budget details. However, they have admitted publicly that some tough choices were made in putting the budget together.

Both hinted that we could expect to see some tax and spending cuts. Flaherty also mentioned that the financial plan will address the rumored issue of privatization.
