Ontario Tories name sixth Transport Minister

TORONTO, (Feb. 26,2003) — After another cabinet shuffle, Ontario Premier Ernie Eves has appointed a new Minister of Transportation.

Frank Klees, the MPP for Oak Ridges (north of Toronto) becomes the sixth Minister of Transportation since 1995 when the PC’s took power under then-leader Mike Harris. Norm Sterling, the previous transportation minister, has been moved to the post of Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Native Affairs.

Klees has served as the Minister of Tourism and Recreation, Chief Government Whip and Deputy House Leader, and has been a member of a number of cabinet committees. Prior to entering the government Mr. Klees held several management positions with major Canadian-based financial services companies and was co-founder and executive vice-president of Municipal Gas Corporation. He is also a former chair of the Unemployment Insurance Commission Appeals Board.
