Ontario Trucking Association kicks off 76th convention

TORONTO (Nov. 13, 2002) — The 76th annual convention of the Ontario Trucking Association opens today at the Regal Constellation Hotel in Toronto, with a focus on how new border security measures will affect trucking companies.

The conference begins this afternoon with the association’s annual general meeting. Presentations of the truck driver of year, dispatcher of the year, executive of the year, and driver hero awards will take place at a special ceremony Thursday morning, followed by a series of executive-level seminars that run through the end of the day on Friday. A gala featuring multiple Juno award-winning band Leahy will close the convention on Friday night.

Executive-level seminars include information related to new programs to enhance border security; how to manage insurance risk when operating in the United States; a review of the hours-of-service standard endorsed by Canadian transport minister in September; and the legal pitfalls surrounding corporate governance.

The full convention program and a registration form is available at www.ontruck.org/info/convention.
