OTA looking for best driver, dispatcher, and highway hero

TORONTO, (Sept. 10, 2004) — The Ontario Trucking Association has launched its latest search for an outstanding truck driver and dispatcher to stand in the spotlight.

Nominations are now being accepted for the OTA/Volvo Trucks Driver of the Year and the OTA/Cancom Dispatcher of the Year, which will be presented at the OTA’s annual convention in November.

Each year the OTA honours a professional transport driver who has a collision-free driving record and is an exemplary truck driver both on and off the road, as well as an outstanding individual in the field of dispatch, who demonstrates a commitment to customer service, safety, driver well being, team work, problem solving, and community service/volunteer work.

The truck association is also searching for this year’s Bridgestone/Firestone Canadian Truck Hero Award — an honour that recognizes a Canadian professional truck driver who demonstrates courage, quick thinking and integrity in the face of emergency. The deadline for nominations is deadline October 1, 2004.

Entry forms are available below at the OTA website. Or call
416/249-7401 Ext. 224.
