OTA offers $5,000 scholarship for post-secondary education

TORONTO (April 1, 2003) — The Ontario Trucking Association said it is taking applications for its Bud Barr Scholarship, which provides money to university or college-bound sons or daughters of OTA-member company employees. The application deadline is June 30.

Two $2,500 scholarships are awarded to students who need financial aid due to the illness, injury, or death of a parent. Applicants must be less than 25 years old and enrolled or registered to attend college or university on a full-time basis. They must be Ontario residents and have a family member who has been employed (or in the case of an owner-operator contracted to) an OTA-member company during the previous 12 months.

The scholarship fund is administered by the OTA Education Foundation, a registered non-profit organization. It is named in honour of Bud Barr, the current head of the OTA Education Foundation.
