OTA scholarship deadline nearing

TORONTO, Ont. — The June 30 deadline is nearing for post-secondary students interested in applying for the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) Bud Barr Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to university or college-bound sons or daughters of OTA member company employees who are having a tough time making ends meet as the result of illness, injury or death of their parent.

The association is making $5,000 available per year for two scholarships of $2,500 each. Recipients will be determined based on need. Applicants must be under 25 years of age and enrolled or registered to attend college or university on a full-time basis.

To be considered, recipients must be Ontario residents and have a family member who has been employed (or in the case of an owner/operator contracted to) an OTA member company during the previous 12 months.
