PACCAR invests in PNV.net

BELLEVUE, Wash. (Dec. 6, 1999) — The internet development division of truckmaker PACCAR Inc. has invested $10 million US in PNV Inc., a provider of bundled telecommunications, cable television and Internet access services to long-haul truck drivers.

The two companies have also entered into a multi-year marketing agreement.

PNV, based in Coral Springs, Fla., offers telecommunications and Internet access services to drivers and their families, trucking industry suppliers and manufacturers, truckstop operators and trucking fleets. These services are delivered through the company’s private, integrated network deployed at over 237 truckstops in 41 states.

In November, PACCAR’s information technology initiatives earned the company the number one spot in PC Week magazine’s Fast-Track 500, which ranks companies from a spectrum of industries based on their innovative use of technologies applied to their business framework.

PACCAR earned the top ranking for launching company-wide initiatives in business-to-business e-commerce, enterprise resource planning (ERP), virtual private networks (VPNs), data warehousing, web-based collaboration software and specialized Intranet applications. In addition, the magazine also cited PACCAR’s high percentage of state-of-the-art PCs and workstations, and significant investment in telecommunications and Y2K compliance.
