CALGARY, Alta. — Petro-Canada has added the new global DHD-1 diesel engine performance specification to its DURON XL 15W-40 heavy duty engine oil.

The company says its oil achieved the new specification for diesel engine lubricants without a reformulation.

“We’ve been well ahead of the game,” says Brian Swinney, a research associate with the lubricants division. “Meeting the new DHD-1 specification was an easy one for us since DURON XL 15W-40 was already formulated to surpass the most stringent emission and performance standards in the industry.”

The global DHD-1 specification was developed to provide a single standardized set of heavy-duty engine oil specifications meeting North America API CH-4, European ACEA E5 and Japanese JASO DH-1 requirements.

DURON XL 15W-40 also meets or surpasses Cummins CES 20076 and Mack EO-M Plus specifications, which further exceed the API CH-4 requirements of DHD-1.
