Petro-Canada earns ISO/TS 16949 certification

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (Nov. 11, 2002) — Petro-Canada said its lubricants business unit in Mississauga, Ont., has passed the audit for a new quality management standard for third-party automotive industry suppliers, ISO/TS 16949, and has been recommended for registration.

The company said it is the first lubricants manufacturer, and the first oil and gas company, to achieve this recommendation for which requirements were only introduced in March of this year.

ISO/TS 16949 was jointly developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and is recognized by Ford, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, BMW, FIAT, Peugeot-Citroen, Renault, and Volkswagen.
