PMTC announces scholarship winner

by Truck News

KING CITY, Ont. —  The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada announced the first-ever recipient of the Professional Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Training Scholarship at the PMTC’s annual conference this week.

The 2016 recipient is Michael Russell, a service technician for Superior Propane. He has worked at Superior for 14 years and his employer says he has always gone above and beyond helping out not only customers, but his fellow employees. He has always wanted to become a professional CMV operator for Superior as he has a long history of drivers in his family.

Russell said his personal goals are to better the roads we drive on every day and to become a million-mile accident free driver. He’d also like to become a fleet trainer for his company in the future.

“The skill and professionalism that is required of today’s professional drivers is increasing with each passing year,” stated PMTC president Mike Millian. “For an entry level driver entering our industry to have the best chance possible to be successful, it is imperative that they receive the best in class training that is available. This scholarship, which provides training that is both TTSAO and PTDI certified, provides just that.”
