OAKVILLE, Ont. — The Private Motor Truck Council of Canada is returning to the Kingbridge Conference Centre and Institute in King City, Ont. for it 2011 conference June 23-24.

This year’s event is dedicated to the issues and challenges facing the industry and how to effectively manage them, according to PMTC president, Bruce Richards.

“This conference will prove to be invaluable at both the educational and networking levels,” Richards said.

In preparation for the event, PMTC is calling for entries for its 26th Annual Vehicle Graphics Design Awards Competition. Co-sponsored by 3M Canada’s commercial graphics division, the awards program recognizes truck fleet operators (private or for-hire) and graphic design companies that graphically enhance their vehicles.

“Vehicle graphics are a visual way to promote products and services and at the same time these trucks promote a very positive image of the trucking community,” Richards says. “Through this competition, PMTC and 3M help promote the visual creativity of fleet operators and graphic houses. We are pleased to have 3M’s support for continuing this long-standing awards program, which is open to all Canadian fleets, whether private or for-hire.”

“3M is delighted with the continued growth of this very popular competition, the only one of its kind in Canada,” said Lynn Daly, market manager for 3M’s commercial graphics group, “Entries come from all corners of the country and the creativity of designers is very special. It is a wonderful promotional opportunity for entrants as the results are not only displayed during the PMTC conference in June, but in a number of industry magazines as well.”

“Companies that use effective fleet graphics while delivering their products are making the best possible use of the marketing opportunities that their fleet offers,” said Richards. “We’re proud to partner with 3M to promote and celebrate this aspect of the Canadian trucking community.”

The awards are divided into seven award categories:

-Tractor Trailer Combination

-Special Event/Promotion

-Straight Truck

-Night-time Safety

-Light Duty Commercial Truck

-Identity Fleet Graphics

-Human Interest

The competition is open to all Canadian truck fleet operators. The entry deadline is May 2. Entry forms and rules are available at www.pmtc.ca, www.3mgraphics.ca or by calling the PMTC office at 905-827-0587.
