Port of Vancouver recording record year

VANCOUVER (June 21, 2002) — The Port of Vancouver, the nation’s largest container port, reported a 15 per cent increase in container shipments through May, reaching a total 522,840 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units).

April saw the highest number of containers ever put through the port in a single month with 117,216 TEUs shipped.

The Port of Vancouver is comprised of three container terminals: Centerm, Vanterm, and Deltaport. Typical containerized imports include furniture, auto parts, appliances, electronics and clothing. Containerized exports include refrigerated cargo and value-added goods such as pork, beef, forest products, and specialty grains.
