Protestors block road over log exports

PARKSVILLE, B.C. — Protestors angry with the decision to allow raw log exports to the U.S. yesterday blocked a road used by trucks trying to reach Weyerhaeuser’s local log dump.

Several dozen protestors took part in the demonstration.

Many were quoted as saying it’s obscene the export of raw logs to the U.S is permitted while the U.S. practices economic terrorism against B.C. forest-dependent communities.

Further protests are likely to take place if the export of raw logs continues.
