LACOLLE, Que. — Business relations between Quebec and New York recently took a significant step forward with the formal signing of the Quebec-New York Corridor Agreement.

The agreement commits the business communities of Quebec and New York to a comprehensive program of partnership in a number of areas including transportation, border facilities and services. The move creates a permanent partnership structure with a bi-national coordinating council and several steering committees devoted to each theme area.

A second and final ratification ceremony will take place in Montreal in November.
