WINDSOR, Ont. — A Quebec transport driver who pushed a pickup truck into a busy intersection was sentenced to four months in jail.

Real Vaillancourt, 51, also had his licence suspended for 12 months after he plead guilty to dangerous driving.

The man from Laval-Ouest, Que., was charged last Mar. 11, after he repeatedly bumped the back of a pickup truck forcing it into the intersection. Traffic had to swerve to avoid colliding with the pickup driven by John Zoch of Leamington, Ont.

“It could have had far more tragic consequences,” says assistant crown attorney Gary Nikota.

Court also heard the driver of the pickup truck contributed to the incident by backing up and bumping the front of Vaillancourt’s truck during the incident.

“Even though the other driver may have contributed to the incident, I give you no credit for that since you are a professional and he isn’t,” Justice Steve Rogin told Vaillancourt.
