NOTRE DAME DU NORD — Show Manager Lorraine McLean told todaystrucking.com that despite some uncertainty heading into 2012, local supporters of this annual trucking extravaganza have re-organized with a new board of directors, a new manager (her) and renewed enthusiasm.

“There’s a few details to take care of but basically we’re pretty excited,” she said.

The Rodeo attracts upwards of 60,000 people to this picturesque Northwestern Quebec village and features four days of races, competitions, live music, parties, fireworks, a special Sunday service and, well, more parties.

Every year, one of the main events is the Rodeo Draw, and since 1986, the prize has been a class 8 tractor. Last year it was a Peterbilt.

McLean said the board of directors is still organizing this year’s contest but she assured todaystrucking.com that once again, the town will come thunderingly alive for the first weekend in August for this, one of the world’s most unusual and memorable celebrations of trucking.
