Saskatchewan driving championships scheduled

SASKATOON, Sask. — The provincial truck driving championships are soon to get under way in Saskatchewan, leading up to this year’s National Truck Driving Championships in September.

The first event to kick off the season is the Big River Logger Days Truck Driving Championship, which takes place May 25-26 in Big River, Sask. Held at the local recreation grounds, contact Dan Scriven at 306-469-1752.

Soon after, the Southern Regional Truck Driving Championships will be held in Regina. This event will be held on June 8 at Sears Canada Park and Ross at 7 a.m. Interested drivers should meet there to take part.

The Northern Regional Truck Driving Championships will take place in Saskatoon the following week, June 15 at the Saskatoon Exhibition Grounds. Drivers can gather there at 7 a.m. to participate.

The provincial championships will be held June 22, also at the Saskatoon Exhibition Grounds at 7 a.m. An awards banquet will follow at the Saskatchewan Ballroom of the Saskatoon Inn.

The Saskatchewan Professional Drivers Safety Council will be hosting this year’s national championships, Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Saskatchewan Exhibition Grounds. A banquet will follow at the Saskatoon Inn beginning at 6 p.m. The Performance with Pride Show and Shine is being held in conjunction with the grand championship from Sept. 5-7.
