Special events mark National Trucking Week

TORONTO (Sept. 23, 2002) — The Ontario Trucking Association announced that several of its members will host events to celebrate National Trucking Week 2002, a campaign to recognize the contributions made by the over 400,000 Canadian men and women who keep the country’s freight moving.

Among the activities sponsored by the OTA or its members:

* Truck Stop Tour: Truckers at select high-volume truck stops have received free passes to Truck World 2002, Canada’s largest trucking industry trade show taking place Sept. 26-28 in Toronto.

* Trucking companies and industry suppliers are marking the week with a variety of events. Among them, Trailcon Leasing, located in the Ontario Transportation Centre at Derry Road and Hwy. 410, will host a free BBQ for everyone all week. There will hamburgers, sausages, hot dogs and free soft drinks for everyone between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. through Friday. Wednesday, Sept. 25 from noon to 6 p.m. all commercial drivers crossing the Peace Bridge are invited to a hot dog roast at the Peace Bridge Authority’s Commercial Vehicle Processing Centre in Fort Erie before entering Buffalo.
