BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Spectra Premium Industries has announced an increase in operating income for the first quarter of the 2001-2002 fiscal year.

The quarter, ending April 30, shows the company recorded an operating income of $2,679,000. This represents a 68 per cent increase from the previous year.

The reason for the increases is mainly due to an increase in sales of fuel tanks, oil pans and sending units and a decrease in selling and administrative expenses in the U.S. distribution and heat transfer divisions.
