HALIFAX, N.S. — Spring weight restrictions have been extended until 12:01 a.m., May 7, on roads in several Nova Scotia counties.

The counties affected by the extension include Colchester, Cumberland, Pictou, Antigonish, Guysborough, Richmond, Inverness, Victoria and Cape Breton.

According to the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works, the weight restrictions in the counties of rest of Nova Scotia, including Annapolis, Kings, Lunenburg, Halifax, Hants, Yarmouth, Shelburne, Digby and Queens, have been removed.

The restrictions on heavy trucks protect roads weakened by the wet spring weather and help prevent severe breakup.
