TCA Launches Second Weightloss Showdown

ALEXANDRIA, VA. — The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) is hosting a second weight loss showdown for the trucking industry.

TCA brass were so pleased with the success of the first showdown that they decided to waste no time launching the second, which begins in the fall.

Dubbed ‘Trucking’s Weight Loss Showdown’, the program brings together teams of drivers and staff from TCA-member truckload carriers in a weight loss competition. At the end of the competition, TCA calculates which individual and which company achieved the greatest percentages of weight loss.

But competitors aren’t trimming the fat on their own.

Over the course of 10 weeks, participants follow the Lean for Life On-the-Road program offered by the Lindora Clinic, a clinical weight management provider.

That program is tailored to the trucking lifestyle, incorporating a sensible eating plan that helps participants lose weight quickly and safely. The program also includes resources and provides education to not only help a person lose weight, but keep it off for good, too.

During the first showdown, 90 percent of participants managed to complete the program, losing a total collective weight of 3,022 pounds.

The deadline to apply for the 2nd North American Battle of Trucking’s Weight Loss Showdown is July 31, 2012. Applications can be found here. Companies selected to particpate will be announced on August 3, 2012, with the competition beginning on September 17, 2012.
