TCA meeting to address HOS and U.S. – Canada Customs

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 4, 2003) — Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator Annette Sandberg will be the main guest speaker at the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Safety and Security Division Meeting in Florida on May 18-20, 2003.

Sandberg will be discussing FMCSA issues and pending regulations that could effect surface transportation, especially the new U.S. hours of service rules due out by May 31. The rest of the speaking line-up includes a presentation by former NASA Commander and Astronaut Rick Searfoss who will explain how to build a company-wide safety culture and how you defend your program in the midst of tragedy. The meeting will close with an address by Robert Thomasson, DOT Program Manager of the Drug Interdiction Assistance Program, entitled “Terrorism: Do You Know What a Terrorist Looks Like?”

The meeting’s informative educational workshops include: “U.S./Canadian Customs – What’s New,” “Reducing Driver Turnover from the Beginning,” and “Driver Performance: From Motivation Techniques to Incentive Programs…and everything in between.”
