HALIFAX, N.S. — New York City is the destination for Team Canada Atlantic’s upcoming May run.

Atlantic companies interested in expanding their exporting activities in the U.S. are invited to explore the enormous market potential of the U.S.’s largest urban centre, with a metropolitan population of over 21 million.

New York is also the business and financial capital of the world, headquartering 97 Fortune 500 corporations.

“Atlantic firms interested in getting into the fast-paced New York City market should consider participating in this mission,” says Andre LeBlanc, trade commissioner with the Canadian consulate general in New York. “They will gain valuable insight into the sector opportunities and discover if New York City is the right market for their business.”

The mission will focus on business opportunities in a variety of sectors including value-added foods, consumer goods, construction and building materials, information technology, biotechnology and United Nations procurement opportunities.

Last year’s Team Canada Atlantic mission to Atlanta, Ga., targeted trade and investment opportunities in the southeastern U.S. As a result, the 37 Atlantic Canadian companies that participated established 64 new agents, distributors and partners, and project resulting sales of $34.5 million and the creation of 249 new jobs over the next two years.

For more information, or to register for the New York mission, contact the Team Canada Atlantic secretariat at 902-566-7488.
