TUKWILA, Wash. — Thermo King and Intra Technologies have inked a distribution deal that will make Intra Technologies’ Low-Voltage Disconnect (LVD) available through Thermo King dealers.

The LVD is specially designed to power up low voltage batteries for transport temperature control applications.

Gary Lemon, Thermo King’s global vice-president of sales and marketing, says "It’s not uncommon for batteries to lose their charge after short periods of non-use, as little as a week. When (our customers) need to start the reefer, the last thing they want is a dead battery and the hassle of a jumpstart."

The new system is designed to ensure that the Thermo King units will have the power needed to start. The LVD was designed exclusively for Thermo King applications, and uses patented power management technology to monitor battery levels and automatically disconnect the current draw when the battery voltage reaches critical levels.

Lemon says that unit is easy to install in less than an hour, and the low cost ensures a prompt return on investment. For more information, contact your local Thermo King dealer.
