Third annual Touch-a-Truck event scheduled

by Truck News

OSHAWA, Ont. – Spectra Venue Management, the operators of the General Motors Centre announced today that the third annual Touch-a-Truck event has been scheduled.

The event is taking place on August 21, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. outside of the General Motors Centre in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oshawa-Whitby.

It is a free event that allows children of all ages to get up close and personal with more than 40 vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Drivers of the vehicles will also be present to educate children about the different vehicles on display.

“We are very excited to organize our third annual Touch-a-Truck event,” said William Balfour, marketing & group sales manager of the General Motors Centre. “Last year, this free community event attracted over 3,500 people to the GM Centre to get up close and personal with 44 different types of military, emergency and heavy equipment vehicles while helping raise $1,250 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oshawa-Whitby. Our goals are to expand on this event and make it an even bigger success with the support of our vehicle and community partners. Seeing the children having so much fun turning on the sirens and honking the horns while they sit in the driver’s seat is a great feeling and it’s even better to see some of their parents doing the same.”

This interactive event coincides with Kars on King that same night, bringing auto enthusiasts and community members together in downtown Oshawa.

“This year’s event will also satisfy attendee’s taste buds as the Spectra food and beverage team fires up the grill to provide a charity BBQ for attendees,” Balfour added.

Partners of the event include: the Durham Regional Police, Oshawa Fire Services, St. John Ambulance, Ontario Regiment Museum, GO Transit, Durham Region Transit, NICHE LIMOS, City of Oshawa, Mackie Group, Oshawa PUC, G4S Canada, Durham Kubota, CCT Auto-Trans Inc., Durhamway Bus Lines Inc., Hard-Co Construction, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Canadian Red Cross, Clarington Contracting Services, and Verspeeten Cartage,
