THUNDER BAY, Ont. — Thunder Bay has been selected as the host city for the 2002 Transportation Week Inaugural Day Celebrations.

This year’s theme is Transportation: Careers that move a nation.

A number of federal and provincial transportation leaders will converge on the Northern Ontario city on May 31 to kick off the event.

The inaugural celebrations will feature various displays and booths at Old Fort William Park – one of the nation’s first transportation hubs when fur traders made up the bulk of the transportation sector.

Awards such as the National Transportation Person of the Year and the Thunder Bay Transportation Person of the Year will be presented at the ceremony.
