CALGARY, Alta. — Dunlop Tires yesterday announced a new promotion that will reward a portion of $25,000 to anyone with the last name Dunlop that agrees to add “Tire” to their name.

A Calgary couple was the first to register, agreeing to change their last name to Dunlop-Tire for a share of the prize plus $200 to cover the name change fees. Up to 50 Dunlops will be awarded as part of the program.

Dunlop Tires spokeswoman, Jane Wilcox, says that winners can choose to change their name back of they want to, but she hopes they decide to keep it.

“We hope they like it and keep it, but if they want to qualify for the money, all they have to do is respond to the challenge by Jan. 11 and make the change by Mar. 11, then they could change it back,” says Wilcox.

Dunlop produces medium-duty truck tires for over the highway use.
