Today’s Trucking publisher completes Truck World buy; OTA, CTA to endorse show

TORONTO (Feb. 13, 2003) — New Communications Group, publisher of Today’s Trucking and todaystrucking.com, announced today that its event subsidiary has completed its acquisition of the Truck World trade show from the Ontario Trucking Association.

A tentative sale agreement was reached in November. The purchase was made by Truck World Show Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of New Communications Group. Financial terms were not disclosed. As part of the sale agreement, the Ontario Trucking Association and the Canadian Trucking Alliance, a federation of Canada’s seven provincial trucking associations, will endorse the event for the next 10 years.

New Communications Group president Jim Glionna said Truck World 2004 would be held in Toronto, with the dates and venue to be determined in the coming weeks. He said Mark Cusack of Master Promotions, based in Saint John, N.B., will manage the day-to-day operations of the show. New Communications Group advertising sales manager Craig Macpherson will act an exhibitor liaison.

Truck World 2004 will be a place “where exhibitors can come and do business,” Glionna said. “Our company specializes in bringing trucking industry suppliers and buyers together. We do it in print, we do it electronically, and now, with Truck World, we do it face to face.”

Truck World was created by The Ontario Trucking Association in 1998 and is the largest exposition of trucking-related products and services in the country. It is held every second year.

New Communications Group is the publisher of business-to-business magazines for the trucking industry in Canada. Its titles include Today’s Trucking, highwaySTAR, Transport Routier, Truck & Trailer, and Truck & Trailer West.

Master Promotions produces a number of trade and consumer shows, including the National Heavy Equipment Show and the Atlantic Truck Show.
