Toronto Transport Crowd Celebrates with Cherry On Top
TORONTO — Over 950 people from the trucking industry attended the Toronto Transportation Club (TTC)99th Annual General Meeting yesterday.
The event, held at the Royal York Hotel, began with a board meeting that saw a new executive committee elected for 2013 (see list below the story), followed by dinner and what turned out to be a free-for-all hockey Q&A with Don Cherry.
Cherry began his speech telling stories about Bobby Orr — the greatest hockey player, period, Cherry said, and showed a video reel that his son made of the hockey legend.
After sharing a few other hockey tales, Cherry opened it up to the audience to ask him questions about the Canadian game — and yes, even politics. For the most part, though, the crowd was more interested in hockey than Cherry’s opinion on Toronto politics.
All in all, it was a good night for the Toronto transportation community — and hockey fans.
