TORONTO, Ont. — Transportation Media, publishers of this website and the Truck News, Truck West and Motortruck Fleet Executive publications, has joined Newcom Business Media to create the largest publishing group serving the Canadian trucking industry.

Newcom Business Media Inc. is a privately-owned B2B media company, established in 1987 with offices in Toronto, ON and Montreal, QC. It produces Today’s Trucking Magazine, Truck and Trailer and Transport Routier.

The move was part of a deal that saw Annex Business Media and Newcom Business Media acquire a total of 67 trade media publications and related digital assets from Transportation Media’s parent company, Vancouver-based Glacier Media Inc.,

The assets include trade publications, digital properties, conferences, and trade shows. The acquisition includes approximately 230 employees, including editorial, sales, circulation, production, digital and administration. All operations will continue as is, with staff remaining in their current Toronto location.

Newcom purchased 18 publications and two trade shows as part of the deal in the following industries: trucking; transportation & logistics; automotive; dental; insurance; meetings and travel; as well as Scott’s Directories.

“Not only is this positive for both companies but also for the titles and those working on them who will be able to thrive in our family-owned, entrepreneurial environment,” said Jim Glionna, President of Newcom.

While the Newcom proprietors are extremely happy about the growth this purchase represents, they are also quick to reassure readers and advertisers and all other industry stakeholders that their increased size will only mean better journalism for readers and improved service for customers.

“Our policy at Newcom is ‘Readers Come First’ and that is not changing,” Today’s Trucking Publisher Joe Glionna said.

Transportation Media publisher and editorial director Lou Smyrlis pointed out that intense competition between the two groups over almost 30 years has led to exceptional publications.

“My team and I look forward to continuing to raise the bar on editorial excellence and customer service as well as leveraging our combined capabilities to provide information on multiple media platforms,” Smyrlis said.
