LAKE COWICHAN, B.C. — TransX Ltd. recently chipped in toward relief efforts in New York City by offering a truck and trailer to transport donations to the stricken city.

A call for donations on Vancouver Island resulted in the purchase of important items such as two-way radios, charges, batteries and boots.

But when it came time to get the items to firefighters at Ground Zero, organizers had to call upon the generosity of the trucking community.

TransX stepped to the plate and offered to truck the goods to New York City for free, and the fundraisers were ecstatic that their efforts were rewarded.

In total, more than $3,280 was raised in cash, while $2,528 in goods was contributed.
