Trimac agrees to buy Oklahoma bulk hauler

CALGARY (Nov. 13, 2002) — Trimac Transportation said today it has agreed to buy Ellsworth Motor Freight Lines, a dry and liquid bulk carrier based in Tulsa, Okla.

Ellsworth operates 10 terminals in the United States, primarily in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas, and specializes in hauling cement, sand, asphalt, and related products. It employs 300 people including 190 company drivers and independent contractors. Its fleet includes 500 trailers and 90 tractors.

Trimac said Ellsworth’s 2002 revenues would be in the range of $20 million US. Financial details about the transaction were not disclosed.

The Ellsworth business will be integrated into Trimac’s petroleum, dry bulk, and mining services division, based in Longmont, Colo.

Based in Calgary, Trimac Transportation is one of North America’s largest transporters and logistics managers of bulk materials, with more than 140 terminals across North America.
