KINGSTON, Ont. — Emergency crews put in some overtime on the morning of May 13, when a train and a truck collided here.

A spokeswoman for Via Rail said there were no injuries after the train carrying 241 passengers slammed into a flatbed truck.

Kingston Police say the truck, which was hauling an excavator at the time, was trying to cross the tracks before the collision.

Police say the warning gates began to descend and the truck driver didn’t think he had time to get out of the way, so both driver and passenger left the truck and jumped to safety.
