BRUSSELS, Belgium — Investigators of a fiery crash that killed 11 people in an Alpine tunnel have revealed that the Belgian truck driver was not licensed.

Sefy Ufacik was behind the wheel of the truck that hit another truck head-on, bursting into flames.

He is still missing, and Swiss police feel that the Turkish national may have fled the accident scene.

The inferno shut down the 17-kilometre tunnel, which is a major link between Italy and northern Europe. The tunnel is expected to remain closed for two to six months while the ongoing cleanup effort continues.
